Anybody know how the water is warming up for the gills and bass? I would bet on it being ready to go, but I seem to jump the gun once every year. If I walk up and see small bluegill next to shore, I know it's on!

I have been wanting to hit it as well, I have been driving up to Logan for work quite a bit, and am going to take my rod one of these days. From what I have seen, there hasn't been a ton of traffic on the water. However, I usually drive by during the week, not the weekend.
Had a buddy fish it recently and he said he caught a few bass, all fairly small. I have seen a couple reports come through here for Mantua the last couple weeks, one guy caught a NICE bass (Can't remember his name, but was from shore and had a half eaten tail). He said he let it go so good luck =)

I hit Mantua in my kayak yesterday morning. Launched from the east dock and fished the shoreline down around the knoll and back. I caught one 14" trout on a peppered pumpkin curly tail grub tipped with half a night crawler. I had some success with smaller LMB casting plastics right to the shore line and doing a slow jerky retrieve. The bite was hard and quick. No bass over about 10".
The wind picked up mid-day and I ended up doing more paddling than fishing. Best fishing was on the tip of the knoll and the north side of the knoll (protected somewhat from the wind).
Fishing pressure was moderate from shore and boats.

I was catching them fairly well there about three weeks ago. Even though it was the day after a major cold front I still managed 30 something in an afternoon with many in the 12-14" range and a couple at 17". I'd give it a few days after this snow storm though. After the storm passes things are supposed to be warm and stable. After a few days of that, give it a try, they should be biting.
