Fishing Deer Creek before the Wind
#1
Our boat has been sitting in the garage for nearly four years. We decided that we needed to either use the boat or sell it. After several trips to the boat mechanics to get the main motor and the trolling motor in working order, because we had neglected the boat for so long, we decided to go fishing together. Yesterday (Tuesday) we went to Deer Creek to see if we could catch a few fish. The weatherman predicted wind, so we decided to get on the water early in the morning before the winds became a problem.

We launched the boat a little before 8 am, and to our surprise we had a non-stop fishing experience for almost two hours. Since we had promised a few people some trout fillets if we caught any fish, we kept two limits of fish to take home. The only negative part of the trip was the tag put on our boat preventing us from fishing on any other waters until the boat was professionally cleaned.

It was good to be able to fish with my wife. Most of my fishing experiences now are in a float tube or pontoon alone, or with friends.

So, you can go back to Deer Creek w/o decon or you can have it decontaminated at the station at Deer Creek or Utah Lake. Don't believe there is a charge ! Call the park for details.

PS: Nice looking fish !!

Lloyd, I figured you had sold your boat years ago. Glad you got some use out of it and always nice to get out with the wife.

Nice pics and report, thanks for sharing. With the new Decon restrictions at DC I have been contemplating if I should return or not but I want to chase those bass up there. I am thinking to take the boat up for it will be easier to Decon than the toon and won't pull me out of fishing service for very long either. Hmm when to go when to go?

What were the water temps like?

I didn't check the water temperature. However, if my memory is accurate, the ranger said it was 57 degrees.

Thanks, I love casting spinnerbaits to the brush and weeds for the Largemouth.
