I fished Huntington North Reservoir again today with a friend in our float tubes using fly tackle. I'm an old retired guy and fishing on Sunday goes against everything us old guys believe in. Never fish on holidays or weekends but with the crappy weather we have been having, desperate times call for desperate measures. We fished from around 7:00 until 2:00 and managed to catch eight wipers, five rainbows, and three chubs. We were using fast sinking lines with size 6-8 crystal buggers and leech patterns in tan/green/pearl, brown/green/pearl, and black/red. The recent storms have dropped the water temperature a couple of degrees from last weeks visit. The temperature was 56-58 degrees and the visibility in the water was about 5'. The reservoir level is at 75% full and dropping. It was one of those good news bad news days on the water. The good news is the fishing is picking up, the bad news, the power squadron is starting to show up and the chubs are getting active. My buddy had the big fish honors with a 5 lb. 5 oz wiper that pulled him around for quite awhile before it finally gave up.
