Fish Lake Trout Fest
#1
I hit Fish Lake Friday and Saturday morning with my father. The weatherman blew the Friday forecast. It was good weather with just a few interruptions until about 6PM when the storm settled in.

Saturday morning we braved 4" of snow on the boat for three hours of additional fun.

The total for us was 140 Rainbows, 6 Lakers, 2 Splake, 1 dinky Tiger.

None were very big. I did keep a couple 16" Bows for Friday dinner. The Lakers were mostly 15" with one 18" in the mix.

It was fast fishing and for me it crossed Lake Trout off my species list.

Trolling flies was the fastest fishing. Downrigged rapalas did the damage on most the Lakers. We caught a few fish jigging (Bows and one of the Lakers) but it wasn't as fast as moving was.

I was concerned we may not spend much time on the lake so the fish total was a very pleasant surprise.

Unfortunately my fish finder was broken most of the trip, so we couldn't spot the fish deep.

It was a Tiger trout and yes it was about 8". We caught it on a fly.

That is why fish lake might just be my favorite body of water to fish in Utah. Trout fest might be an understatement!
