Took a trip to Hyrum dam on Friday seems it's trout season and old habits die hard... Well I took my FIL with me and I set him up on the leadcore and it wasn't long till he had his first Freddie on the line... followed by two others in rapid procession... About then I was starting to get nervous I was going to get spanked in the catching department, but after a few adjustments I finally got on the board with a catch... Well as the morning proceeded we would miss about 3 hits per each fish we were able to land and we ended up with 11 fish each. Then the clouds started to build so we headed home for the day... Fun day on the lake, we were trolling at 1.4 to 1.7 mph and using the kokanee rigs and it seemed to work pretty well... We caught fish from 10.5" to 15" with the majority around 12".... We had 5 fish over 13" so most were smaller, but still great fighters for their size.. Fish were shallow from surface and I was catching them about 100' back on mono or down about 6' on the lead core, let out 45' of line... Down riggers went dry though so I put them away this was a little odd, I usually just fish shallow on the riggers to keep from tangling lines, but for some reason I couldn't buy a bite on them... We caught fish all over the lake, no spots were better or much worse than the others so if you're looking for a good spot to take kids or family that like catching fish, Hyrum is pretty good these days... Good luck... Later J
