Best weather to fish at Utah Lake?
#1
I need to diversify this years fish bucket list, and am planning on fishing Utah Lake at Lincoln Beach this Thursday. Having said that, I am a bit concerned as the weather will be a bit unstable these next few days. It looks like the temperature will be fairly stable from what I've seen though the weather man could be wrong. I am mostly wondering if any of this rain could complicate things. I was curious if anyone else knows if this recently weather pattern could impact fishing on Thursday.

Utah lake is unstable beast that will make you question your sanity at times. That being said as long as the temperature is on the rise the rain can sometimes improve the bite.

What species of fish are you after? Some species are better caught in places like protected harbors and the the weather is not quite as big of a factor. (It still is usually somewhat of a factor)

The only two things you need to worry about are the wind and lighting. If the wind is blowing more than 5mph and there are electrical storms, STAY OFF !!

I will be focusing exclusively on panfish and white bass. I may try the Provo Marina too....

Weather always throws an unexpected element into the mix. However, in my experience with Utah Lake, I have found that strong winds and rain can impact the fish for at least a day or two. If you have got them patterned and then a front moves in with wind, rain, and a temperature drop, expect them to change. The worst time for me at least is when Utah Lake turns that funky chocolate color after high winds. I usually have to give it a day of calm weather before do ok out there again.

White bass are readily available along the dikes. Panfish action is available inside the harbors.
