I think a 4 blade has a faster take off and less top end then the 3 blade.

I think you are right , I have dual props and it gets out of the hole great but leaves a lot on the top end . I have always heard the few blade the more efficient on the top end.

I have run both 3 &4 blade prop's and the problem with 4 blade prop's is getting the right size . But once I found the right size 4 blade. It was great, The boat diffidently handles better and turns sharper with the four blade and has more getup and go. I did not lose much top end speed maybe 1mph.

As in any piece of equipment, the answer is in what your looking for. Are you looking for the hole shot, gph, speed, etc.. Here is an article that will help explain a bit about the differences between a 3 blade and 4 blade prop.. I have a 20 ft. In board out board boat weight about 3000 lbs mercruser out drive I put on a 4 blade 15 pitch for strawberry and a 17 for Utah lake I just want to get on plane with the trolling motor and gas tank on my swim deck. That has worked for me, the guy at Brimhall marine in Provo has been great to answer all my dumb questions.
