The graveyard shift at Lincoln Beach
#1
Ok so last night I launched at Lincoln beach at about 9:30 p.m and at about 10:00 my dad and I came off the water because of a little chicken (my brother) whining about lightning storms around us. [crazy] so then we went land fishing, my mom made a knot in the fishing poles, while my dad tried glow in the dark jigs with a worm and I tried a normal jig with a worm and I caught the first fish of the night! [Smile] a small fat mudcat. Then we tried some more fishing and someone's light up bobber had a fish, and the line snapped loose, so we could see a channel catfish with a light on it. So my dad tried to snag it, succeeded but didn't get the fish.[sly] just the bobber. So it looks like I out fished my dad at Utah lake! [fishon]

"So it looks like I out fished my dad at Utah lake"

[#0000FF]Nice work. But that is really not all that hard to do. I've done it before myself.

If you had a better guide you would have caught even more.

Good to see you developing such an interest in the fine sport of fishing. Keep on keeping on.

Hey![pirate] She outfishes me just about every time she gets a rod in her hand. When my son was born I always thought he would have been the one to always ask to go fishing. Turns out my daughter is the one. Who knew!

[#0000FF]I had a daughter...in between and older and a younger brother. All liked to fish but Kim (daughter) was very competitive and gloated whenever she was top rod. And that was all too often.

In addition to many a family fishing trip I made it a point to take each of my kids on their own special trip with dad...without other siblings. And every trip with Kim became an adventure. In later years I have put several of these trips down in short stories. I am attaching one from when Kim was about 11 or 12.

Great story and always good reminder as well.

I think part of my daughters tactic is to tie as many rods up into knots that she can so while I am disentangling she is catching the fish.[Tongue] I have two rods to fix today when I get a chance.

It's not my fault you didn't tell me correctly on the bait caster, and the other one it had too much line twist and it made a knot. [Tongue]

I took my boy fishing a couple of weeks ago and he outfished me 7-4. He kept reminding me of this fact, so I told him I caught 11 fish, I just had help with 7 of them.

He is only 11yo, but he is responsible for his own rod, tying his own knots, occasionally chooses his own lure/bait/hook, and generally has to unhook his own fish. But as long as I have to do the driving and planning, they are "my" catches too.

On the plus side, it is always a good feeling to see him outfish me and have a great time. It leads me to believe I will be invited when he takes his own kids fishing. (Something is wrong with my father, he would rather watch paint dry than go fishing)
