Welcome to the site E-pointer. That looks almost like a burbot but I'm pretty sure it isn't. Someone posted about catching a fish like that last year and if I remember correctly it is some sort of fish that was illegally introduced from someones aquarium. If you caught it in the Jordan river, I'm sure that is what it is. Sorry I don't remember the name of it but I'll try going back and checking last years post and see if I can find out.

My first thought was burbot as well! but like you i'm sure its not, doesn't have the really long dorsal fin. i caught it in a canal that does connect to the Jordan a ways down the line so your probably right.

It is a DoJo, a tropical fish from Asia.

Give that man a cigar! He's 100% correct. I used to raise tropical fish, and had several of these Dojo Loaches. If I remember correctly, they come from areas with cooler water, and should be able to handle Utah's winters. Someone cleaned out their aquarium into the river. Fred K.
