Threading up some rods for the son and I tomorrow on Rockport and I'm wondering what pound test do you all use on your ice fishing rods for perch?

I usually go with 4 pound test. I've lost a few bigger fish, but I think that's due to nicks in the line more than the actual test. There's a few fish bigger than 4 lbs in Rockport, but not a ton. You should be fine.

sensativity is way more important than strength. the lighter the line the better the action.
we was sitting next to a guy wednesday fishing perch he had 6lb we all had 4 we were all catching fish he was not,we looked at his line and could see the memory,it was not straightening out. He was getting the strikes but could not see them. Perch fishing. [signature] |
