Willard / DC

Went to Willard Bay last Saturday afternoon in search of my first Walleye and Or Wiper. Fished the NE corner. Ended up catching 4 Wipers on assorted shad colored rapalas. Was limited to my float tube. Water clarity was none. No action on my bait pole. The walleye eluded me.

Went to Deer Creek this morning in search of Walleye. Fished the am in my tube all around the island. Between 13-30 FOW. Trolled a bottom bouncer with worm harness and worked jigs with no success. Only caught 1 SMB on a worm. My Buddy landed a nice bow as well. The Walleye still eludes me.

I have heard of guys catching the eyes north of the island along some ridge in 38 ft of water with bottom bouncers and spinner rigs. I havent experienced that myself because i cant kick my fins fast enough in my tube to troll. I have caught some eyes earlier in the year near weed lines when the water was higher I think it was in May or June. The eyes are very elusive in Deer Creek. As far as Willard goes, from what I have witnessed is that April is the best month to get them trolling with minnow type lures. It is quite the drive, but the best possible shot at walleyes in my opinion is Starvation. They are numerous in numbers over Deer Creek and Willard.
