Starvation 9/18 the perch are coming back
#1
Finally got out to fish. Decided to check out Starvy. Game plan was to see if I could locate some perch schools and then try to get some walleyes and /or trout depending on wind. Was a little windy when I launched but that soon died done and never picked up again. Good news is I found several large perch schools mostly 8 to 10 inchers with a few bigger ones in the mix. Looks like next year should be good. I also caught a few walleyes and smallmouth while targeting the perch. One nice 18" smallmouth had me running around the boat for a bit. Rabbit gulch was the best area for perching. Most of the schools were on the shallow side 8 to 12 foot depths but in one area I found the perch schooled up in 20 feet. Best combo was perch meat and a 1/16 oz jig. Tried a 1/8 and 3/16 jig to try to get deep faster but the perch had no interest in the heavier jigs. I seldom got the 1/16 to the bottom. Just had the right fall for the perch.
Although I also spent 3 hours trolling I never landed a rainbow. A few light hits and rod rattles but nothing to the net. I usually catch a few trout while perching but that didn't happen either. They just had lockjaw.

Thanks for the report. This is good news.[Smile] I am looking forward to next year. Haven't been to starvy for a couple years now.

I had the same luck on Saturday, took my toon out one last time. Found the bigger perch out in about 20 feet, took home 20 for some fish soup, it was good.

Let's hope for a strong and long winter this year because I was extremely disappointing that I only went like 15-20 times last year.

I am ready for any fishing. I've been too busy to get out much this season so far. Once my work slows down I plan on spending many great days out and about with the Price Perch Posse.
