Haven't read much lately about it. I've never fished it but kids want to fish this weekend. Is it a decent time to possibly get a tiger? If thats no good would love to take home some crappies. Anyone have any reports? Thanks

all the wakeboarders hanging on to the endless summer has made it a rough ride out there trying to jig for crappies so get out there super early or later in the afternoon
we got about 2 dozen crappie 2 weeks ago in 20-30fow jiggin small ice jigs ....they may be up shallower by now, but thats the latest update i can provide.
we'll be after those tigers when the sunrises tommorow so hopefully the fall feeding binge is on

Showing up to Pineview at 10:00 AM to fish is about as effective as waving a stick at a pothole full of muddy water. You either show up at dawn or shortly after, or come get the last hour of daylight.
Last time I was there, my trip was punctuated by some drunk idiot making a super slow victory lap around the wakeless dam arm with Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" cranked up to full blast, so high it was making visible vibration in the water. That was at about 11:00 AM, an hour after the power squadron's hangovers become bearable enough to start drinking again.

I know you mentioned the kids wanted to go fishing this weekend, I don't blame them. Here are some things you might want to keep in mind, and maybe delay your fishing trip a week, or pick a different destination.
1) This is the last weekend the port ramp charges to launch.(next weekend it is free to launch)
2) With the predicted temps being close to the 90's, I am sure as stated earlier, the power squadron kooks will be in abundance up there this weekend. Soaking up the last rays of summer.
3) The Crappie fishing this time of year has always been good for me, I will be up there next weekend with crappie nibbles and chartreus or white jigs. north side of cementary point towards spring creek, bouncing them off the bottom.
4) last year the crappie were 8 to 10 inches. not stellar but acceptable and should keep the kids occupied.
5) The best solution I can offer, is to go fishing this weekend some were else (less boat traffic) and fish Pineview next weekend.LOL

This Saturday will probably be just as bad if not worse.
