No, not the fact we fished it Friday with no fish. Damn shame is the fact there is not a drop of water being let out into the creek.Looked in the puddle below the spillway and there has to be at least fifty beautiful trout swimming around in there just waiting to die...some I'd guess to be 3-4 pounds. This is the same all the way down the creek. I'm sure the reply anyone would get from people in the know is the fact the only reason Woodruff is even there is to provide irrigation water to the local ranchers. Does anybody know if they'll ever let any water out to at least keep these gorgeous fish alive ? The lake is slowly filling right now so there's water flowing in from upstream.Just a damn shame.

Too bad they can't be netted and put back in the reservoir.

Dang, it is a shame that those fish will go to waste. I have to admit that is one part of the state that I have not explored. May have to make a go of it and hit fossil butte NM at the same time.

Birch creek is out that way too somewhere, I would have to consult a map to be sure where though.

I think that hero for a day program looks like a great idea. I'm not sure if there are any streams or rivers that have this problem near me, but I'd definitely help out if there were.

Be interesting if the state would let anglers help them with this?

I think albinotrout was speaking National Monument when he said NM, are you talking Woodruff Narrows in Wyoming or Woodruff Res. in Utah at the base of Monte Cristo? Because I have never seen large fish in th creek below Woodruff Res. I have seen large fish below the Narrows though.

It's Woodruff Res at the bottom of Monte Cristo. I've never seen big ones in there either but most of the other times I've been there the creek has been high during irrigation season....lot more concealment. MOST of the big guys in there right now are the ones trapped in the spillway pool...probably where they've spent their whole lives. I've e-mailed DWR yesterday but no response. Probly need to call.
