First Trip to Lincoln Beach
#1
Pardon the lateness of this report. I got out to Lincoln Beach for the first time last Friday (9-25). I launched the pontoon a little after 7am.

I was hoping to hook a Walleye on the fly rod (I did not). But since I enjoy catching fish
I decided to pull a night crawler along and see what picked it up. about 150 yards out I had a take on the crawler and it was a nice cat. From there I kicked around trying to find fish, every so often I would reel in a healthy cat on the bait rod. I only had one taker on the fly rod, a white bass.

I stayed out a few hours and I ended up with one white bass and 8 or 9 good sized cats. I'm glad I decided to not rely only on the fly rod, it would of been a tough day. Great morning fishing. Sorry no pics on this trip.

You had a great day! [Smile] I am hoping for a trip down there soon. But not holding my breath. Thanks for the report.

BCU-- I talked to you briefly in the parking lot. Glad you had a good day. Mine resulted in a near- death experience when my toon was violated by a youngish catfish.

Oh man that was you? I read your post and I felt horrible for you.

I had a similar experience about 15 years ago at Pineview. I was crappie fishing on a float tube (one of the old round ones with only one bladder). A fish slipped out of my hand while unhooking and punctured the tube. It went flat pretty quick (I was younger and dumber so I had no PFD) and my waders filled up with water. It was pretty scary for a bit but I thankfully I lived to fight another day.

Man, I'm glad you made it back to shore safely.

I can laugh about it now but at the time it had me a bit worried. Fortunately we are both past that "young and dumb" stage now.

Stay safe and good luck.

Well I'm definitely recovering from the young stage but sometimes I'm not sure I'm doing so well on the dumb part. Ha Ha.
