No surprise at Newton
#1
I didn't fish it, but I drove up there last Friday. I was expecting to see very low water levels, and I wasn't disappointed.
The shoreline was choked with the thickest burdock I have ever seen.
The boat ramp was high and dry.
The outlet drain at the bottom of the lake was still touching water, but the lake may have risen since they stopped drawing water.
The vegetation was right down to the water's edge, so I suspect it has been that low for some time.
With no rod in the car (how does that even happen?) I didn't get a chance to see if anything was stirring under the surface. If there is, they are probably crowded in what little water is left.

Wow, looks worse than last year at this time... Probably a few panfish sitting in there though, I walked around the banks last year tossing a prince nymph and caught enough crappie and blue gill to keep me happy. Not sure how this year is though, haven't even attempted to drive by. Thanks for the pics and report.

We ever get some water to fill it the small bait fish will have a place to hide and good cover for other species as well.
