I started to go to East Canyon but didn't want to drive over the mountain so I went to the Nell..

Got on the water at 7:00 and the water temps was a nice 57 air was 41..Headed to where I found fish the last time I was up their, found lots of small Perch but no bass..

Started to eliminate water looking for the bass, then I seen some marks on my depth finder and yes they was bass with some perch and trout mixed in..

From 7:00 to 9:00 just looking was making for a long day but then it was an all out mad house, forget two poles in the water at one time. So I would drop one to the bottom and as soon as the ball was closed I had to set the hook then when the fish was in the net the other pole was sent down..Un-hook and grab the other pole and close the ball and set, this went on for about the next 20 to 30 min. then I went looking for the next school of fish..
I worked my way through 4 schools before I had to go at 1:00, not sure how many bass I got but I had 18 that was over 12" with the biggest at 15 1/2" four trout all around 17" to 18" and some perch with the biggest at 10" it ended being a good day after all..

Good for you, Cliff. Been up there myself off-n-on the last 2 wks doing about the same. Doing more perchin' cuz my buddy's Mom coming out from Michigan and she'd like an ol' fashioned perch fry. Been keeping some 9s & 10s, but saw a boat come off yesterday with me at 3pm and these two guys had fat 12s in their livewell. Saw 'em with my own baby blues. Returning to the scene of the crime tomorrow.
On a side note, pulled 8 gillnets with the DWR last Tues. Some n-i-c-e smallies in the mix, up to 18", plus some big tiger trout, which I didn't know were even in Jordy.

When you say you were using two poles, was one of them with bait for the perch and trout? I know you usually only use lures for your Bass fishing.

Thanks for the report. With the nice weather I may take the boat out for some Bass fishing.

That is good to hear. What did the DWR personnel say about the gillnetting results? Were they pleased with what they found?

Lots of work & numbers cleaning 8 nets on the tarmac afterwards. Measuring, weighing, some scale & stomach sampling, etc. Will get data & DWR synopsis at our next mtg in Nov.
Some gillnets were shore nets, some deep-water. Best haul for all species was off the Grassy Knoll.

Sure, I helped them with gillnetting there a couple years ago. I was wondering though if the biologists shared any opinions on the results? Were they seeing more larger bass compared to the last few years?
