Strawberry 10/12/15

[angelic]Got to the marina about 7:30 out and fishing by 8. We decided to launch from the lodge rather than Renegade and troll on our way there around haws.. Well, we trolled there and nothing.. Put on some jigs and power bait when we got to renegade and nothing.. Trolled around there and into Salamander Bay.. Rigged up power bait and jigs, the other two guys I was with caught 2 fish each on power bait.. Small rainbows and cuts, threw them back.. Wind picked up and went and trolled around Haws again with the rest of the people on the lake.. Nothing, we headed in and was on the road by 3:30.. Marked fish from 5'-20'feet with a few big en's around 30'.. We threw everything at the fish from rapalas to shrimp to spinners, to pop gear to just worms.. all colors of jigs and styles, nothing caught but frustration.. But like they say a bad day of fishing beats a good day of work.. I will eventually learn how to fish the berry..

Sounds like a tough day at the Berry but I'm sure you still had a good day. Did you happen to notice the water temps while you were there?

Right now, reports have been mixed ... all over the place ... some good, some not so good.

I believe that shortly here (about a week after this cold front settles in) the fall fishing will start to get lots better.

J_J, even though your report wasn't steller, I still thank you for sharing it with us. We actually learn from an even "slow" report.

Thanks,

Thanks for your report, It is good to know that others have slow days catching fish but a good time on the water.
so hope next time you go you will get a boat load.

The water temp and m.p.h transducer on the boat isn't working wiper, sorry.. The lake was turning pretty hard though and I am wondering if the visibility was just horrible that day for the fish..

Naa, that lake can be as thick as pea soup and you can have a 50-fish day. I'm pretty sure that's not what's keeping their jaws locked.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet that next weekend we'll be seeing a lot happier fishermen.
