Anybody been to East Canyon recently? I understand the water level is very low right now, somewhere in the 55% capacity range.
My question is if a boat can still be launched and if so, what the conditions are at the boat ramp.
Thanks

She's low but I launched my 17ft Tri-Hull on Columbus day with no issues. Trolled good ole Pop Gear and worm and slayed'em. Trolling the banks yielded tons of smaller ones. We stayed out in the middle over deep water and got into plenty of 16-17 inchers. Good luck !

Thanks very much for the report! I think I'm gonna run up there and give it a go tomorrow morning.

Ended up working all day today, so the new plan is to get on East Canyon tomorrow at daybreak and give it my best effort.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks!

Yeah....they had the Anchor worms on them. Some were just the marks so I think the colder nights might be cooling the water enough to start killing the nasty things. Good thing is they don't affect the fillets at all. Caught a bunch at Echo over the weekend also. They were worse.

Had a fair day at East Canyon on Saturday. Caught 13 rainbows and 1 small mouth in just over 3 hours. Most of the fish I caught were in the 12 inch range, but did catch a few that were in the 16-17 inch range. I tried a variety of things before I really started catching them. What worked best for me was using a white tube jib tipped with night crawler and drifting.
The surface temp the entire time I was there was 55-56 degrees, which is way above average for this time of year.

Wow it has cooled off quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. I was surprised it was still as warm as it was. I fished East Canyon a lot in November and December of last year and once the water temp reached 50 degrees and below, the fishing got very, very good and we caught some really nice sized fish. So with the cooler weather in the forecast this upcoming week, East Canyon should hit the prime temps here pretty soon.
As a side note, I've never caught any bass at East Canyon, never really gone after them. But yesterday as I was drifting, I got pretty close to shore (maybe 20 yards) and through a white tube jig toward shore and the moment I started reeling it in, I got hit hard and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a nice little small mouth.
