Flaming Gorge
#1
This last weekend was incredible weather wise with overnight Temps higher than reported and it had to be 70 on Saturday. The lake laid down all weekend with only a riffle Sunday morning.
We managed one 30# mackinaw Saturday late morning and were one of only 2 boats trolling linwood, there were about 5 boats jigging but if any landed big fish we didn't see it but did see a few 5 to 8 lb netted and released. We heard the other boat that was trolling conversation as we were landing the fish that they had boated a smaller mack that day.
Our fish was safely returned and a few of the many pups we caught were sacrificed for the smoker.
Strangely there were rather large 5 lb or so fish breaking the surface fairly regular it made me wish we had broken out the planar boards and pulled some surface lures.
There was little action to speak of at pipeline or swim beach as we were the only boat and soon gave up ourselves with only one pup caught.

Hey Fishing Therapy-
We were trolling that same area Friday evening and early Saturday morning and again Saturday evening which boat were you in?? Just curios cuz the only other boat we saw trolling didn't catch anything while we were there????
We caught one Mac about 8lbs Friday and a pup in the morning. The Rainbow fishing was great though!

The blue and white Bayliner with the blue enclosure. Friday at nearly dark we went up to Pipeline then fished there and Swim Beach early Saturday morning.
We returned to Linwood later that morning and landed the big fish within a half hour the rest of the time we were on and off sporadically with pups. There were about 5 Aluminum Lunds and Crestliners near us but they were mostly jigging one or two switched to trolling for just a short time. The other boat near us and they were right by us while we were hooked up was a 19-20 foot fish/ski trolling with the main. I did see them land a fish or two but nothing large, same with several of the boats jigging.
As I recall there were two boats trolling over in the 150-170 foot depth by the wall but I was never near them.
I'm sure rainbow fishing was great as they were surfacing all over, again I'm disappointed we didnt throw out the planar boards while we were fishing macs.
I tried to upload the picture with my phone earlier but it failed thus the edit if it works this time this is a good friend of mine who was rather happy with his catch.

We must of just missed you Saturday morning like I said we bugged out and headed for a rainbow hole....
That's a DANG NICE fish you boys hauled in!
I'm very curios to as what speed, depth and lure that was used I would happily compare notes??? Feel free to PM me. We will be back up on the 5-6 or that following weekend?? I ran into a ole boy up there and was told it's game on after the spawn??? Anyhow congrats on the BIG MAC.
