Found ICE
#1
We went for a drive down to Central Utah Saturday and ended up going up Fairview Canyon and down to Joes Valley. Mammoth had Zero ice. Temp was 18 degrees . But when we got to Potters we found the lakes to be almost completely frozen with unsafe ice, the temperature was in the mid 20s. Ice season is getting closer.

Does any one know when they close the mirror lake hyw for vehicles? If lakes are already freezing I want to fish on them! ! Is it a certain date or does it depend on weather

you can check on UDOT's website to see if it is closed or not (look for the seasonal road closures for HWY 150). I think it depends on the weather when they close it. If you check it often you may be able to see a future date on when they plan to close it. For instance they are anticipating on closing the East Canyon road on Nov 16th

Probably won't be open too much longer with this weather front coming through.

I had to break ice with my tube on Saturday to get to the edge of a hole in the weeds. That was below 9000ft. Most of that lake had 1/2" covering it.

I'll be back there with an auger if the road stays clear, late next week.[fishon]

I drove by Scofield this morning and it was about 75% capped including the dam arm with ice around both marinas.

It all looked unsafe and I'd guess the afternoon temp opened it up some... but it's supposed to be COLD and calm the next couple nights.

As of 11/13 The Highway was still open according to UDOT's website.

Might try to get up that way before too long.
