Canals around Willard

So, I have hiked out to Harold Crane (southwest corner of Willard) a couple times duck hunting and have seen some guys walking down the canal with fishing gear. I always thought there were nothing but carp and bullheads in them canals, but one day last week there were a bunch of fish surfacing almost like small wiper boils! My question is, has anyone ever caught good fish outta the canals behind Willard? I was going out past the big water pump by the southwest dike...

I have caught bass out there on the fly during the early part of duck season... Nothing gigantic but fun none the less

I have actually caught some channel catfish, sunfish, and even a few walleye in that canal on the south side.
