Jordanelle Shore Fishing
#1
I've been trolling this forum for a few months but I've never really posted anything. I'm extremely impressed by the knowledge on here and I personally have improved my game by following your advice.

I was thinking about hitting Jordanelle for my first time this week, and I was wondering if anyone could give me suggestions for where to fish from the shore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

[#0000FF]Welcome aboard.

No recent first hand experience but traditionally it is usually pretty good for planter rainbows and some holdovers by fishing just west of the personal watercraft launch ramp...at the main State Park at Hailstone.

Most of the shore fishermen soak power bait or crawlers. I have usually done well with a bubble and fly...or with spinners. Fish close in and parallel to the shore early and then out deeper as the sun gets higher.

Good luck.

Thanks TubeDude! Do you know if Rock cliff is fishable from the shore? I'm ok with a bit of a hike to get farther in.

[#0000FF]Not sure what the water level is right now, but there is almost always some place to cast from shore at Rock Cliff. The old road goes out from the launch ramp and this time of year they usually allow you to park and fish out toward the end. And there is often some good early morning shore casting with bubble and fly...or spinners. But if you park at the restrooms and walk out on the northern shoreline there are a couple of spots where you can soak bait from shore and do pretty well at times too. There is a fairly steep dropoff into deeper water along that shoreline but sometimes the fishing is best before you get to the steep part. Watch for surface activity.

Rock Cliff: I drive out to the end of the road as far as I safely can, stick my rod holders in the mud and throw cheese or garlic power bait directly to the south, possibly a worm and marshmallow. I've caught perch and bass from the shore by walking along the shoreline to the north and dropshotting, but beware of the snags....Jordanelle is only 20 years old so there's a lot of submerged trees and brush.
