Mantua Parking

Drove up to Mantua a while ago to check out the ice and along the south dike where everyone parks I was greeting with 4 no parking signs. What is up with that? What does it hurt to park here in the winter? The ground is frozen so there is no damage to the dike. I'm not 20 years old anymore and now have to walk about a mile to get to the spot I fish. I just don't know the reasoning behind this.

That's a long dike, did it mean between the signs or the hole length of dike?
We better get that checked out, going to be a problem very soon.

Those no parking signs have been up for a while. I noticed them this past spring when I fished Mantua. I think they were there last year as well.

I know there are parking lots on both ends of that South dike but unless they plan on making a new parking lot, below the dike in that location, I can't understand the reasoning for closing that area down. They have never charged to park in any of the parking lots around Manuta in the Winter, makes me wonder if that is going to be the next step. I guess we could drop our gears off, then go and park, in one of the parking lots but that is quite a walk back. Sounds like we will be seeing more ATV's and Snow machines on the ice there this Winter.

I believe I've seen the signs there too in winter's past... Who wants to be the guinea pig and test the signs to see if they get a ticket or get towed?? [crazy]

Hopefully it doesn't change. Looking forward for some early ice gills and perch!

There weren't any there last winter right where you walk down on the ice. I'm working on getting them removed.

Ok. Got the scoop on the signs. The city doesn't want the y road that joins the dike blocked so you can park outside the signs. []

As is, they are confusing because they imply it applies along the entire dike.

They ought to replace them with two "No Parking Between Signs" with arrows.

If you look at the sign there is an arrow going east. And the far sign has an arrow going west.Talked to someone on the city counsel and said it's ok to park outside the signs. This person even rode up there with someone from public works to look at it.
