Hello all,
Many of you know that we have scheduled the Fish Lake Perch Tournament for January 30, 2016. We have rules finalized (see attached image) and there are a couple of changes to note for this year:
1. Registration will be online at http://wildlife.utah.gov/...orm=15&ff_page=1
2. Most prizes will be awarded for catching tagged fish. This means that you don't have to catch hundreds of perch to win.
Remember this is a free event. Last year, we had over 1,700 participants and we estimate between 30,000 and 40,000 perch were caught and removed from Fish Lake in one day. This kind of effort can really help all fish populations in the lake. Come join us for a great day of fishing.

This was an awesome event last year. We had a blast, but is there no teams this year? or team prizes? I would be willing to pay a $5 or $10 entry fee per person if more money is needed for prizes. At least for us being a team event is what made it exciting just wondering what changed or if I read the flyer incorrectly.
Thanks again.

lumberjack,
There won't be any team prizes this year. We will actually have a few more prizes than last year, but decided to try a different format to give everyone a more equal chance of winning prizes. We'd like to maintain this as an all-inclusive event appealing to novices anglers as well as the more experienced.

Being this is only the second year, we're still learning how best to run the tournament. I've already received a couple comments on the lack of team prizes. It's too late to modify anything for this year but, rest assured, we will take into account all comments/suggestions when we evaluate the upcoming event and plan next year's.

So, can I catch more than one tagged fish and get a prize as long as the limit hasn't been caught?

I'm glad to see another tournament going on again. I had a lot of fun on the last tournament. I like how you set up the tournament this time. It does make it a little easier for those of us that got our butts kicked by the pros last time.. I won the gas auger last year in the raffle, and hope my luck from last time works this go around too. Thanks again for putting this on again. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to do these.

Thanks Mike for the replies. I hope as many people as last year show up too. It will be a nice tournament for all who participate to get a chance to win.
I hope next year though there would be some team incentives as well. For me it makes it more fun to be with my fishing friends then competing against them, but here's to "friendly competition".
Hope the weather will be as nice as it was last year.

I have been looking forward to this tournament since it was posted on fish lake facebook and reserved a cabin right then.. I just worry that with it being all single, no teams, that groups of people are going to combine their perch to hit that 100 mark and split the gift cards.. I hope everybody who enters will be on the honor system in this situation and make it a fair chance for everybody..
