Iced Lakes in Northern/North Eastern?
#1
Any one know of any lakes frozen safe enough to hit the Ice on yet? Northern and North eastern Utah primarily is where I am looking for. Within 3 hours of Ogden area.

Any help is appreciated....
Thanks,

Bass_Turd.

There are a bunch of lakes over the border in Idaho that have good ice. The lakes up along skyline drive have safe ice. Lots of reports on those lakes.

Driving Back from Logan yesterday and decided to stop by Mantua. Walked out on the ice at the boat ramp. 3" close to shore.. Ventured out about 50 yrd. Really couldn't tell the thickness but there were old holes drilled from earlier. Held my weight just fine. My buddy weighs 285. I wouldn't venture out much farther. Drove along the dike back to the river.. Did see various places where people have been out.. There is open water back closer to the river. I was planning on going this week end but, Ill probably wait a few weeks.. Or until we get a cold snap.. Hope this helps.

Newton, which is in Cache Valley, has fishable ice, or it did last weekend. Fished it Saturday with good success on crappie. There was a solid 4" of ice.

Steinaker, Red fleet, Big Sand Wash are still open. Pelican, Diamond Mtn. lakes, Flaming Gorge at Firehole and a few of the smaller lakes are iced up and fishable.

Hey Nate,

How thick is the ice at Pelican and any reports, and any worthy of your ultralight tackle?[Wink]

No reports of fishing at Pelican. It was capped prior to Dec. 3 when I drove past. I have since heard of anglers going out. I went ice fishing to a private lake at a similar elevation for large rainbows instead. That lake had 5".
