Scofield Ice
#1
Has anyone been to Scofield or know if the ice is safe enough to go out tomorrow. I know it was 3-5" last week, but then it got pretty warm up there this week. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I was up there today. I didn't fish the damn arm , which is usually a little thicker ice. I fished many didn't spots, didn't see anything under 6 inch. They did get a few inches of snow though. It was a fun drive there. Good luck, the Chubs were hungry today.

Thanks for the heads up man. We are actually hoping to catch chubs. Figured they'd be good bait for later in the season when the big ponds freeze up. The only time I've ever caught chubs was with a rapala. What were they biting today? Just regular ice fishing rigs?

On Tuesday, we caught them on pretty much anything that was small enough for them to get it in their mouth. All jigs were tipped with worms.

The thing that concerns me is that the weather warmed up starting Tuesday. Planning on going Sunday, definitely going to drive down but it sure would be nice if the folks at the number for Scofield/Huntington/Millsite would answer the phone.

I wouldn't be concerned. It would take more then our current heat spell to make that ice unsafe. Also it's high enough that the heat spell isn't that hot up there.

I wouldnt worry about the ice thickness diminishing at all. We were just up skyline drive today and it was definitely not warm. Got there about 1:00 this afternoon and although the sun was shining it was dang cold. There's definitely not any ice melting with the Temps we experienced up there.

Weather for the actual state park there was showing temps above freezing for pretty much the entirety of Wednesday through Friday in the early morning, but I managed to talk to the state park folks up there and was told that Scofield is 6-10 inches according to reports.

I will be drilling/checking holes regularly on my way out, regardless.
