I am thinking of going to Huntington this weekend.
Does anyone know if the ice is thick enough to fish?

It was good when I was there on Saturday. A tiny bit of slush in a few spots. Ice was at least 4" thick. Not sure how it's held up through this weeks weather though.

I may head up Friday, if I do I'll give a report once I get cell service so you can plan for the weekend.

I was up yesterday (Wednesday). Ice was fine, about 6 inches. Fishing was a little slow with an extremely light bite. I kept 2, one 18" and one 16" tiger trout. Returned 3. Started at 7:00 and left at 11:00. Fish were still biting at 11:00, I just had an appointment I had to be back for so had to cut things short. Met DuBob on the ice who gave me a flasher demo. May have to invest.

Can a front wheel drive car get to Huntington res or do you need 4 wheel drive?[blush]

The road was clear and dry to Huntington - surfaced asphalt all the way over on Wednesday. 2 wheel drive no problem. It is raining outside here in Provo right now, but even so they keep the road plowed very regular for the miners that travel from Fairview and Mt Pleasant over to the mines near Huntington. Good luck

I was up there today, ice was plenty thick, fishing was really slow though. drilled probably 30 holes all along the dam and didnt mark very many fish, only caught 1 tiger with a few more nibbles. a few other fishermen there as well with similar luck

We are wanting to head to Scofield tomorrow, but we are extremely worried about whether or not to bring our life vests... Any report you have about the ice would be much appreciated, as always.

With this warm spell and Scofield being larger than most bodies of water in that area I would wait a week or so with the colder weather returning for safer ice, at least that is what my common sense is telling me. [signature]

I agree with your common sense, 100%.
My mental back and forth on the subject is because 3 people have now told me that they didn't see less than 6" anywhere they went. The 3 of them didn't go together and the trips were yesterday and today. I keep waiting for someone to get back to me and say it was thin or open in spots, but everybody keeps saying it's fine. I think we're going to get a purposely late start and see what it's like when we get there... [signature]

I ended up not going today. My nephew had a family emergency.
