Scofield State Park Ice Fishing Tournament.
#1
The Scofield State Park Ice Fishing Tournament will be held on January 2nd.

The event will be run very similar to our tournaments in previous years.
The Park Ranger tent will be at the Madsen Bay boat ramp.

Prizes will be given for the five largest Rainbow Trout caught.
Prizes will also be given for the most Utah Chub caught.

We will be limiting the registration to 200 participants. Register early as previous years have hit that number fairly early in the registration process.

If the registration fills we will NOT allow morning of registration.

There will be no check-in on the morning of the event.
For raffle items we will just call names from those who were pre-registered.

Remember to have all fish measured before 2:30 as we will give prizes out at 2:30.

To register visit https://runsignup.com/Race/UT/Helper/Sco...Tournament

or visit our website at scofield.utah.gov

Thanks

I see that there haven't been any rainbow trout planted in Scofield since October 2013. Curious what the recent gill-netting studies are showing for rainbow trout in Scofield?

I thought that myself. It might be anyone that catches a rainbow will win.

I caught one last weekend up there. It was a tiny little thing though.

The majority of fish caught during last years tournament were cutthroat however we saw quite a few rainbows.

We try to encourage participants to bring all rainbow trout up to get measured. Every year people throw back their rainbows because they are sure others have caught bigger ones.

As long as we are all putting out fun crazy ideas how about we put burbot in the lake! I love the taste of burbot but FG is to far away! Those burbot would eat up a lot of those chubs and compete with the tigger trout but I say let the better fish win! Just another crazy fun idea tho! [reply][/reply]

That's one fish that would GUARANTEE a rotenone treatment. The Feds would require it. There is no way to stop downstream migration from Scofield, and they won't put up with them anywhere. They're considered an invasive species. If there was enough rotenone to treat Flaming Gorge they'd probably consider treating it to get rid of burbot.
