We took the snowmobile to the marina in hopes of finding fishable ice. Ice was only an inch thick at the bottom of the boat ramp and 3 inches that cracked as we drilled it in the little bay to the side of the ramp. There may have been some open water out a little ways but it was hard to tell due to the fog. We decided to go back over by the highway to fish. We only landed a few smaller bows and one good slot cutt. We were the second to furthest south group on 4-5 inches of soild clear ice.

Thanks for the update - probably a good option for the weekend of the 9th or 10th of January -- how were the road conditions for the snowmobile - drifts, 4 wheelers or 4x4 rip it up --- just want to get a status for the old man with the bad back before we drag him up there and beat him up on the trail.

I went to the Solider creek marina today 12/28/15 still only had a 1" of ice, I'm hoping in two weeks it will have 4.

The road was fairly smooth and packed down from the snowmobiles, we also took a wheeler all the way to the top of the ramp with no problems. I wouldn't dare take a truck as the snow is too deep.

I think all the slush froze as it's been super cold up there, we didn't see any.
