I just got an old 2wd four wheeler running and was hoping to venture out to find some better fishing at Strawberry. Do you think I could make it across to Haws point or maybe on the Soldier creek side to the Marina? I've have always just walked pulling a sled and fishing the close areas, so I'm excited to seek new areas. I'll be there tomorrow morning.

I watched a 4 wheel drive two-seater get buried over by the marina last Friday. It may work if you could get it to the ice but getting it there is iffy. If you are planning to cross on the lake, be careful of thin spots. Later in the season be careful of layered ice because you once break through the top layer, you will be there until a snowmobile pulls you out. Soldier creek side is an absolute no way.

I saw a raptor type 2 wheel drive cruising around on the ice yesterday. But like was stated above just be careful it all depends on how much snow there is.

was there yesterday. You wouldnt have any issues on the ice. The snow isnt deep.
Sometimes the path to the lake can be an issue. some deep snow. Usually its packed and frozen enough to you will be fine though.. Saw wheelers at the ladders with no problems

Just remember the good frozen snow of an early morning can turn into a bottomless bog in a hurry come the afternoon. I have saw 4 wheel drive wheelers buried trying to get back from the ice to their truck when they had no trouble in the morning. Good luck to ya as getting away from the crowds sure help

Get some chains or cables. Less problems.

It's easy to get to the lake in the early morning when the snow is frozen. But I watched a 2wd wheeler not make it back up the ramp at the marina mid day not pulling any gear. They made about 5 attempt with good speed before a sled pulled it up for them. You can pick your spots to use it though. But be careful. Good luck fishing your new found spots.

I have taken my 2 seater 4x4 wheeler to soldier creek now twice this year since 12-28. The road was actually better on New Years than on the 28th because as the sun heats up and then ices over at night it packs it down. You should be ok as long as it doesnt snow anymore. AS stated above though, it doesnt take much until you get it buried. I hit a snow drift and was off the hard packed trail by 6" and buried my wheeler. Luckily we had a big group and pushed it out, but if I was by myself or just a few of us, it would still be there. As someone else stated, chains on the back tires will help immensely.
