Kokanee on ice
#1
Had a fun trip to the berry last week and caught my first kokanee on the ice. Also caught a bunch of cuts and one bow. Anyone else have any luck catching kokanee through the ice?

Strawberry Koke! Awesome!!!! Through the ice is something I wanna do one of these days. How deep was it? Looks like a good 3-4 lb Koke. Good job man.

Wow that would be great to find that big of Kokes through the ice. I'm used to the porcupine 10"ers. Nice job. J

That's a nice catch. At Montpelier reservoir they catch kokanee through the ice in February and they only fish a foot below the ice. I guess it gets really hot for a few weeks.

Got a general type question for you, in Porcupine the Kokes are in big schools of fish that all hang out together and so when they come in you can really catch some fish, but they move away quick too.. so it's feast or famine... However, when I've fished the gorge the koke seem to be more individual fish, non-schooling... Only fished the berry a few times, but it seems like the kokes there aren't in schools either, what are you seeing that way? Maybe the larger variety of kokes aren't the schooling type or maybe I just don't have enough experience at the gorge and berry to know what I'm talking about there... Anyway was just curious... J
