I fished the inlet two nights ago, found the 18 fow channel, I was actually targeting walleye with large hard baits. Think i hooked up with one, but lost him, there was a group catching 10" bows. Ice was about 10" i drove around to the island and i could see where some brave soul pulled a sled out, looked scary as hell to me, the area where they were at was open water 4 days prior.

I'm standing just north of the island now in 45' fow. Perch bite is slow to none only had 2 bites. Ice is 2.75" cracks when I walk but it's safe.

I trolled the open water yesterday. Didn't seem close to freezing. If I wanted to I could have punched through all the way to the dam. Caught a few rainbows. Did best right at the edge of the ice.

We were thinking of going over near where the river comes in tomorrow, there were people fishing there last week... now these reports have me a little curious about the ice. Did you happen to see if there were any people down there on the north end?

Yes there was people over there. If you look at my first comment it says what the ice was like there earlier this week. Don't think you have anything to worry about on the north end (inlet)

Yes it did, I apologize. My computer keeps loading up and automatically going to the last comment instead of staying at the top of the page... hope it wasn't too much trouble for you. I appreciate your response.
