I'm brand new to the forum and sure have enjoyed the great insights from all you experts!! Thanks! I'm heading up to Pineview tomorrow with my boy and would like a little catching to go along with the fishing. I'm not asking for exact locations of honey holes or secret spots, but pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated. We will be targeting the crappie. Should I use similar baits and lures as I do for perch? What's different? Any pointers are welcomed. Thanks in advance, and please feel free to PM as well.

I can assure you not all here are experts. lol
From my experience at PV, look for 40 ft in depth and fish a couple cranks off the bottom. I like the clam spoons in glow/red but I have seen some other reports on here of guys using some other things. Good luck

Don't be afraid to move off unproductive holes.
Don't be afraid to play with depth. Crappies seem to be generally NEAR the bottom for me, but not much right ON the bottom.
Look for very, very light bites, and be prepared to set the hook on the first tiny movement of a spring bobber. I mean, literally, if the bobber shakes, rises, or dips 1/4", yank it. That's all you get, usually.
Also, a lot of times I see a wiggle and I get right up close and freeze, poised, hand hovering over the rod, ready to set the hook at the next tiny movement. Well, that second tiny tick is usually them spitting it out.

In the past I have caught lots of perch in the narrows. Also in between browing and cemetery point has been good for perch and crappie. I like to just use small jigs like ratsos, ratfinkees, and gizzy bugs. The crappie might take a little while to figure out what they are biting on, but the perch will pretty much bit anything you put in front of them. Meal or wax worms are also very helpful.
