No joy on the walleye hunt at Starvy
#1
Three of us fished the Knight Hollow area at Starvation hoping to get a few of the toothy critters. No Joy! We tried an area near the old stream channel and we fished in 20 to 28 feet of water where we have found some walleye in the past.

We got some perch, including some currently decent size fillet material in the 8 to 9.5 inch range. We also got into some of the Starvation Steelies. If you fish the Knight Hollow area there is some standing water on the ice in places where the shoreline slope is nearly flat. We found about 4 to 5 inches of water on the ice but the ice was still solid enough to just walk through the water to solid ice. Water on the ice can weaken it, especially if it's a sunny day and the greenhouse effect works to warm the standing water. A pair of totally waterproof boots are a good idea and check the ice well before you venture out.

If you access the ice where the bank is steeper you may have an easier time.

Good luck and be safe.

Thanks for the report. Nice to see the perch are getting bigger. Too bad you didnt find any walleye. Looks like we are due for some colder weather this week.
