Bear Lake this weekend
#1
I just bought a new boat and am dying to get it out. I havent seen a recent report for the ice and ramp conditions at Bear Lake. Im assuming the state marina is still froze up but im hoping i can get in on the east side. Any recent updates would be very appreciated.

I watched a facebook video yesterday of a guy busting through 2 inches of ice at the state marina. The lake was icing up pretty good last weekend. I can't speak personally since then.

The ice varies from no ice, to 2/3" in places, up to a foot of stacked ice...

I wouldn't come up with out an all welded aluminum boat, tire chains, ice bars and shovels/picks.... 1st point has 3' of stacked ice on bottom of ramp, mouth of Marina is jammed up...

The wind can kill a guy pretty quick out here, the ice is really moving around and can prevent getting around. Pray for big winds, and she will be ice free in hours,

And I would definitely be prepared to damage your boat trailer...2/3" ice is hell on lights, decking and fenders.

You could always make the drive down to Sand Hallow, Quail creek or Lake Powell[Wink]

Some ice jams we were into today were horrible, like damn near not get off horrible.

Most of the ice is shifting from the north, half the lake or so is froze up, most of Utah has ice floating in it...rainbow cove ramp is probably your best bet...I heard it wasn't to bad. But all could change in a matter of hours... Knowing what it will be like is virtually impossible.

I second this suggestion for any softwater action.
