If you are ok paying or have a states park pass, the beach is easy access for kids. Good trout fishing too near shore. Lots of perch down there to keep you busy if you can key in on what they will hit. I've found the 15-20 feet mark most productive this year

I'll be there tomorrow will let you know what I find. Be taking my FIL and he has a tough time getting around so we'll be right there near the beach as well. Should still be pretty good if size isn't too important to you. Later J

Is the beach area at the boat ramp or further east?

It is further east. There is a road access off Center and 5th south with a parking lot.

Thanks for the information. How is the access from the parking lot? Are there stairs or a trail?

access from the parking lot is pretty easy. there is a walking ramp that leads to the beach. Gradual incline from beach to ice. Just to double check, are you planning on paying to enter? A daily pass is 8$ I think?? Thats to access the beach parking lot. If you want to walk in, it's 3$ and you'd just have to walk down the road to the parking lot, which would be a steep climb coming off the lake. Hope this helps.

I posted a report a few days ago on my fishing trip to Hyrum on Wed. Most your questions are answered there.
Parking lot is easy access to ice via a gradual ramp. There is a few fee of OPEN water on the edge of the lake.
You will have to give it a jump, or take one step in the water not too deep to step up on ice. I suggest you take a 6ft 2X12 and drop it across. it will be easy to walk that way.

Yes it is true you will need a plank to get on the ice. I found out the hard way today. The edge broke off and I was standing in knee deep ice water that quickly filled my boots. I never did get to fish today had to go home and dry out[frown] So ended my first trip of the year. 10 ft plank.

Yes I did go today, and the edges are really bad be very careful. I had my FIL with me and his legs don't work so well so we tried swim beach and it's over ten feet to solid enough ice. So we loaded back up and went to the boat launch and it was the same story there, but we wanted to fish, so I loaded my FIL in the back of my truck and backed him onto solid ice and so we went out for a few until his diabetes kicked in then we had to go. Short day but still got 6 fish one was a really nice thick bow around 20". There was 7" of black solid ice out where we fished. Perch were 7-8" other bows were 12 & 14". I really didn't get much quality fishing time so don't use the numbers as a gage, it was pretty good fishing. I had two different fish break all my lures off so I lost four today. Chunky fish or rotten line anyway I hope I don't keep doing that. Fish hit everything as long as it had a wax worm on it. Bare hook with wax worm will catch fish if you have weight to get it a foot off bottom. Was fishing in 12 fow. Good luck. J

Wow that changed fast!! I was there Wednesday and found a spot that to get on without breaking through. I could see the edges were getting bad though.

All this warm weather will be taking a toll on all the ice.

Main ice is good, just the new water filling the reservoirs that's hurting our edges. Enough cooler this morning that Hyrum edges weren't too bad this morning. 3 on deck so far. J
