Berry good day! (late post 1/9/16)

Hit strawberry marina at 830 with the masses. Parking lot was packed at the marina! Same thing when we drove past the ladders parking lot. Had a ton of tracks crossing the lake towards haws so the three of us headed across. Stopped and talked to someone at haws said ice was 8 inches and clear there. So we decided to keep going and heading towards renegade. Followed a snowmobile track and a side by side track until we hit the opening to renegade the they went east into the bay and we jetted across towards renegade. Hit a couple slushy spots on the snowmobiles out in the middle. They were smooth and you couldn't see them. Made it to renegade fished 25 fow from immediately were marking fish. They really liked paddle bugs this morning. Then that turned off and they really liked tube jigs after that. The bite really picked up at noon until we left at 4. Kind of a weird time for the Berry.
My buddy managed to get this nice fat rainbow ! Mostly cuts though.
Caught a really weird cutthroat had a normal bottom jaw and then this huge hook off to the one side. Wondering if this is a weird thing from birth or someone broke its jaw early on and this is what it healed like or something.
There were some real bad slushy spots coming back that are worth watching out for in the main part of renegade bay. Saw some pressure ridges around haws. All in all a good day !!
What else could have happened to that cuts mouth to have that second jaw bone??

Thats a long trip from the Ladders to Renegade, how far do you think it was? Yea, thats a weird looking cutt, likely a generic problem it had from birth. Sounds like a good trip.

You see that often in Kokanee (soft mouths) where the hook has pulled through and then it has grown back deformed like that. Could be a birth defect too I suspect. Looks like a great day!

Great information. I would say that looks like the effects of trauma of some sort on that cutty. [reply][/reply]

Sorry when I said I drove past the ladders I meant in the truck on the way to te marina. Lol that is a long ride from the ladders to renegade. I've done it before on a snowmobile. Every thing goes pretty quick when you're doing 50 -60 mph across the lake. I think it's only 5 miles from the marina down to renegade. From the ladders to the marina maybe 3 miles good day though !
