ROCKPORT RES TAGGED FISH
#1
Went to Rockport yesterday and fished for about 4 hours. Saw a few fish on the finder but not many. Caught 4 rainbows with the biggest being about 17 inches. Nice fat fish. No tags in any of them. Dang it.

Most of the fish were in the 12 to 14 foot range for some reason. We caught one fish off the bottom in about 26 feet of water. All were caught on a small white tube or a green paddle bug. We tipped with meal worms. I was surprised to see so few fish come thru the cone under my finder. Where are those buggers and where are the ones with winning tags?

Here is a pic of the biggest fatty.

Hey it wouldn't hurt for him to lose a few pounds (like many of us including myself), but no need to call him "biggest fatty" -- nice fish also.[Wink]

Wow I wouldn't mind catching a 14 footer. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Haha!! Good catch.

I was surprised that most of the fish cruised around at the 12 ft. "depth range". Must be warm water up high.

Nope. Coldest water is just below the ice. Most oxygen too.

Nice fish. Thanks for the report. I was up there today with my kids and had very similar results. All The fish were 12 - 15' deep over 30' of water. We also did ok with a white tube jig but tipped with wax worm and a white paddlebug tipped with wax worm.
I attached a fish pic from today, It looks like the twin brother of your fish.
