I'm headed to Cisco Beach early tomorrow morning. I'm taking my 8 year old fishing buddy with me. Just wondering how the ice is along Cisco Beach. Wondering if it is still safe to walk on. It was OK last Friday (about 3 ½ inches) but I don't know if the air temps has kept it sufficiantly froze.

I was their yesterday till Noone and the ice was around 3 inches. Their was alot of open water out in the middle(to the west), that looked like it was slowly creeping to the shore but it was still pretty far out from cisco beach.

Its deteriorating.... 3" but plenty of cisco getting ice. We got out to 50ft and did some jigging for big fish. There are cracks that open up on occassion, saw a couple guys who had to step back across after it opened up about 8"......
Lots of people out today....50+ at cisco beach

Yup I was there too and Cisco came easy if you can't net them go out to 10 fow and jig snag the rest of your limit. It was fun. Good luck and I'll probably be back tomorrow. There was 3.5" of ice close and about 3" where the crack opened and started to spread. I was looking down the hole and the trout had Cisco sticking out of their mouths and not much interest in taking my jigs. I did get one white fish but it was small. Anyway back to try again tomorrow. Trip was a huge success.
We only had one net and only dipped for a little over an hour but bagged 60 of the little fellers.
Every scout and every leader at least caught a couple.
Thanks to everyone who shared tips!!!

I hope you had a good trip, it was a little slow. We got them but it took us a while. My bro and his kids had a ski lesson so we helped them get 2-3 limits between the four of them, then we went out deeper and started jigging our fish. Had a couple real nice folks and their kids come by and they hadn't done it before so we showed them how to catch deep water Cisco. That was fun I love seeing young kids go nuts for fish. After they left we finished our limits and one white fish. Had two other real nice white fish hooked but lost both of them, but it was a fun day even if half the state was there. I don't know if it was the crowds or if the Cisco run is winding down, but it was way slower today than yesterday. Out at the ledge we found lots of fish but they were deep enough it was hard to hook them there and I could barely see them when they would swim by. Anyway I'm sure the scouts had a blast even if the fishing was a little tough today. Thanks for taking them. Later J

Hey Mike what a crowd you guys really throw a party. That was a fun day. Didn't see you there and no one came to give me mouth to mouth so we got along again today. Didn't make it up to the fish fry but it looked like you had a line. Hope that turned out good. Well when the white fish get their feed bags on again let me know i'd love to come ice a few. Maybe I just need to move off Cisco and I'd find a few hungry ones. Anyway catch ya later J

I forgot to mention out of the 60 cisco we netted I also scooped up a whitefish in my net. It was small but it was cool to net something different.

Wow that's incredible to get everyone in on the catching. I had a net I never used today, wish I'd known I'd let ya use it. But sounds like you didn't need it. Great job!! You may have just created a whole troop of fishing addicts. Nice work I'm sure they will remember that for a long time. Later J

The whitefish I caught was just a little bigger than the Cisco so all day as people were coming by they thought I had the big Cisco contest winner, I didn't have the heart to tell them it was the wrong species. I was jigging to bring fish to the net and the whitie swooped in and nailed my jig, it was a real surprise. Fun on a light weight ice pole. Later J

That was impressive to get a double Cisco without a net. Don't think I'll ever do that again. And that rock fish was the best fighter of the day. Thanks for the company Greg it was a fun day. Hope you made it home safe. Better feed Landon a deep fried Cisco. Later J
