Tips for fishing with My Dad on FG in Wyo
#1
I am thinking about taking my Dad to Flaming Gorge to fish for lake trout and burbot through the ice. He is almost 80 and does not get around very well. In that past I have gone to lost dog and parked right next to the reservoir. Does anyone know if I can do that this year? If not, can you recommend another place where the access is easy?

Your biggest issue right now is going to be all of the snow we've accumulated over the last few days. Depending on where you're going, we've gotten 1-2ft of fresh snow. Add some wind and you have some bad drifts. I suspect a lot of the side roads or two tracks could be tough traveling, so I would recommend the more traveled roads like those to the marinas or launch ramps. Buckboard would probably be a good bet, and even Lucerne. You should be able to target lake trout or burbot in both of those areas. Travel on the ice might be tough too, depending on the status of the snow.

Hope that helps some and that you can get your Dad on some fish.

We fished buckboard last weekend. The road was plowed all the way to the ramp. Good fishing, good ice

Thanks for the replies. Iceonly, was there a lot of snow or slush on the ice?

No slush. 5" snow. But it had snowed there since we were there
