Fished the big blue again today. Weather was really bad this morning and then really nice this afternoon. Fishing was pretty slow. I was off the weed beds on the southwest end. I tried lots of depths today, but caught fish in 40 feet and 65 feet. The picture is the biggest of the day.
The ice where I was is still 8 inches thick. The top two inches is cloudy, but there's 6 inches of clear ice below that. It snowed enough today that there's a couple of inches of new snow on the ice that should ward off the sun for a bit.
On my way home I saw people out by the rockpile and out from Garden City. Personally, I wouldn't trust any of that ice further north by Garden city though. The big gap that was open yesterday had closed up quite a bit, but that just means that there's big sheets of ice out there moving around. I don't think it's going to melt, I think it's just going to break up eventually...
