Strawberry 02/27/16
#1
Haven't seen an update on strawberry for a while so thought I'd post our results from this morning. Started fishing around 6:40 a.m. Caught first fist at 7:11, then the whole group caught at 7:33 a.m., things never really heated up. Dead around 9:00 a.m. Fished in 8-17 FOW, most fish caught in 8-14 FOW. White with waxie seemed to be what they took; snubbed gizzy in white and paddle bug in chartues. Had several lookers, few takers, then nothing! Only about 22 fish between 4 of us.

Last Sat not much better, 9 fish for the morning, caught about 1/3 that came by.

Edges are great, Ice is about 2.5'-3' thick. 8 degrees on arrival, 34 degrees at 11 a.m. Beautiful weather! Still quite a few people out at various spots. I would like to read how you did...either misery loves company or learn how we suck at catching! [Wink]

I was up yesterday and our first catch was the Ice auger my friend lost right by the boat ramp, lost it in 15 feet of water and we got it back, then we used the 4 wheelers to go over to the other side, it was slow, but around 1:30 it started getting better, we landed 1 under the slot, and all others were in the slot, between 2 of us we caught about 10 in 2.5 hrs. During the auger recovery mission we reached our hand in to try to grab it at the bottom of the ice and from shoulder deep we could just reach the bottom of the ice. 2-4 inches of snow on top, we never found any slush.

We were at the Island today. Slow fishing, nearly 3 feet of ice, and the slush monster coming back was in full fury! It seemed like the group we were with all had the best luck with white jigheads, pink gizzy bugs, and chub meat.
