Future lake Powell trip
#1
I went to lake Powell last week and was able to land 7 stripers. I think the full moon really threw off the fishing. I'm wanting to go in April or may. Does anyone have any advice of which would be better and places I could go to have better success. Thanks for any help PM's welcome.

Any size to the stripers you caught? What were you using to catch them?
One of the best methods to use to get info on a certain body of water is to use the search feature above. Here is what I came up with:

You can just scroll down the history and look for reports during the months you are interested in fishing. Read the reports and find out the months when the fishing was best.

I have gone to Lake Powell the first week of May for the last twenty + years. I go with a several other fishermen and usually use a houseboat for a week.

Of course weather, water level, fish populations, can differ even though it is the same time each year. Probably the best advice is to check "Wayneswords" website for fishing reports, and the anglers corner reports of personal fishing trips. Check these just before you plan to go down and you can get a general idea of where, and how other fishermen are doing at Powell.

We go to Bullfrog and generally go South and camp somewhere in and around Slick Rock or Iceberg. We also fish in and around Bullfrog. We have had great years of Crappie and Bluegill fishing, and Lg and Smbass fishing. We also have seen off years for all species. Lately, Walleye fishing and Smbass fishing have been good, and Crappie and Bluegill fishing have been slower.

No matter what, Powell is a great place to fish, so enjoy the scenery and have a great time!

All the stripers were in the same range 2-4 pounds. I was happy with what I caught they were quality fish. I went to bullfrog also and we only targeted stripers that's all I plan on targeting there. We were using jigging minnows they wouldn't touch the chovy for some reason.

Thanks for the input
