I have'nt been able to check out Pineview Cemetary Pt. access for a couple weeks...anybody know if it's possible with 8 ft planks or something like that? I'd sure like to hit it one more time at nite if I knew there was a way in and out.
..tks...

I haven't been there for a few weeks, either, but here a couple of suggestions. An aluminum extension ladder is a possibility. Also, years ago we used a small aluminum fishing boat, to get from shore to ice, down on the Yuba. Put whoever is with you in the boat and last one in shoves off. The front person carefully checks ice safety while staying in boat, then climbs onto ice and pulls front of boat forward. The rest can climb forward onto ice. Then just drag the boat with you. It will slide very easily on the ice. Great way to carry gear and a life raft if needed. Go around to the north side to do this. I can't remember the name of the point, but you can access much closer, with not such a steep bank. I still remember my dad, sitting in his boat, and fishing through a hole in the ice. I wish I had taken a picture!

We were out there a week ago today and on the North side of Cemetery Pt. there was almost a 5 ft gap. We made it across at 5am but coming off at 9am it was getting dicey, we had a 5 ft plank and just barely made it. I'd think the extension latter would be the way to go, as mentioned but I haven't heard any recent reports, except at the narrows, where it sees less of the sun.
