An Alternative to Float Tubes and Pontoons. I saw this at Scheels today...A kayak on steroids. From the attached pics you can see the mid-ship Minn Kota. The motor drags you forward and foot pedals going to a rear rudder provide direction..kinda cool, but expensive at $3k

Yeah for $3k I'm better off buying a used little fishing boat on ksl. Even those Hobie kayaks($2k) are pricey.. During the winter I was watching a lot of kayak fishing videos and most of those kayaker were on Hobies. I use an inflatable boat to fish from and have it setup with a gas trolling motor. I was thinking of getting a kayak as well but don't have room to store one in my condo. Love how I can deflate my boat and store on a shelf but hate having to set it up every time I go out. It beats shore fishing though!

There are dozens of kayaks designed for fishing. I have a Hobie Pro Angler, but you can get a paddle kayak for as little as $400. All the benefits of a boat but with NO noise to alert the fish. And you don't have to register them, either.

I see Old Town has a give away for one of these items on line now if you want an e-mail to register send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you the e-mail so you can apply... They hook up the give away craft with lots of nice swag to make it a fishing machine worth around $5K... I was hoping it had the I-pilot linked to the motor, but I didn't see the rudder as the foot controls, so maybe not as ultimate of craft as I thought, but still would be a great machine to win... E-mail has links so you can learn about the craft, it's a nice machine, but pretty spendy for my budget... Later J

Those do look sweet. I also think the ones with the pedal drive look interesting. Particularly when it's windy, paddling a kayak can be frustrating as you try to juggle paddling and fishing. A drift sock, an anchor, and an anchor trolley are a must for me on the kayak.
