Launching at Willard is still, "launch at your own risk". Thats what the signs say, as you come through the pay stations. That never stopped a lot of us last year and the same this year but if you are not familiar with the lake, it would be a good idea to avoid it.
By the way, Welcome to BFT.

By south dike, do you mean the South marina? If that is what your asking then yes, the South marina is open, in fact it never closed all Winter.

I'm assuming you mean ice free so you can fish off the south dike, if that was the question, I would say yes... It looked like the ice melted away from the south dike a few days ago, from my drive by observation... I have not been along it, only looking from the roads as I have driven by... Most of the ice looked like it was in the middle and towards the north as of Thursday night... I think you should get some feedback from some BFT'ers on the fishing conditions out there, I seen a bunch amped up to try it a few days ago... So either it's really good and they don't want to let the cat out of the bag, or it wasn't very good and they didn't want to let that out either... Hopefully someone will report something soon... Later J

Yes, it is open every where on the South end of the lake, as far as I know they finished it late last Fall. Not sure about the North end, that area by the outlet has been closed for a long time now and I'm not sure they will reopen it.

There were people out on the Freeway Bay section yesterday, fishing from shore and at the SW corner. In years past, some of the biggest wipers of the year are caught in early Spring. Good luck if you get out.

As I said, there was a guy fishing there yesterday, in the SouthWest(SW) corner, so unless he walked a long way, it is open.

cat-tech- Nice wipers.

Looks like I'll have to break my Kickboat out of winter storage abd make a trip to Willard next weekend. It feels like forever since I've been fishing.
