Jorndanelle rock cliffs ramp

Hows the boat launching at that end? I am assuming hand launch but would hope there is no mud. Hope to hit it this week.

I would be more worried about the ice than I would the mud.

That's funny...................... OK, sorry. The current water level is about a quarter mile away from the Rock Cliffs boat ramp. You could theoretically launch from the old highway road where it enters the lake, assuming the ice has melted there, but even if it has, it is only feasible for small, shallow draft boats. Many folks spent a lot of time the last 2 summers trying to get unstuck out of the mud after attempting to launch from the road.

I was up there on Saturday about 10:30 to 1. You can drive down the ramp and a bit down the road but there's plenty of mud and snow all the way down to the water. There really wouldn't be a place to launch a boat yet. I probably walked at least a 1/4 mile to the water. I was able to fish off a little mud bar where the river came in. I did have to cross a little bit of water to get to it. I included some pics from the spot I fished from. I was mostly casting towards the south and open water or across the incoming water and letting the line drift. Caught rainbows with a jig head and brown curly tail grub and the others with my fly rod letting the line drift with the river. They would hit stripping the line back. Hope that helps.

Thanks all. I am the king of hand launching. Bring it on. But I like to limit it to 100 yards from the truck if solo...unless there are 24" browns.

Last Sunday, I drove my Outback all the way to the end where the old roadbed is a little undercut where the Provo comes into the inlet there, fished until about 4:30 PM and "drove" back out. Quotes, because it was more like slaloming in a vehicle. I think I probably had the perfect combination of AWD and lightness because those times where I slipped off the roadbed and my tires hit mud, I'm pretty sure a truck would have gone axle-deep.

I agree. I have an older Subaru wagon and started to slide down towards deep mud and was able to turn it around.I probably just had enough of the old road under me. With now one else around I just walked it.
