just got back from fishlake and did the impossible. i caught a tagged perch. since the tourny 19 tagged perch have been caught. if you catch one they still have around 20 prizes i got a fillet knife. they are going to keep it going all summer still some good prizes ice auger, sleigh, fishing poles etc. now for ice report for geezer at north end still 2ft ice you could drive a truck on it. so take your 4 wheelers snow machines no slush a couple inches of snow on ice easy walking

I've never been to fish lake but would like to hit the ice one more time this year and search for perch. Any tips on an access point to start? Thanks.

Kipe -- anywhere you can park. there is plenty of good perch habitat all along the west (highway) side. Find a place to park, then go walk out on the lake and start fishing.

We had really good success a couple weekends ago at the north end. There's a parking lot and bathroom at Joe Bush. Not too steep getting on and off and access is wide enough for an ATV. Basically you need to find the edge of the weeds and fish there. Perch were less than 1 reel off the bottom. Small jig / jigging spoon tipped with meal worm or perch eye worked great. Most of them will be small but you'll come across plenty worth filleting.

Thanks for the tips! If parking isn't a problem then I should be good, I think i'll give it a shot Friday.

kipe all you have to do is find weedline usually between 12 to 24 feet of water easy access at far north end go around gate then drive right down to shore line. a fish finder is also handy perch are on bottom. caught well over 100 keep 30 8 inchers for taco. just use small ice fly or just small jig head tipped with meal worms, perch eyes

I made it out there Saturday 3/12 and my first two drops down the hole resulted in two perch one 5 inch and one 8 inch. After that it was all trout. Midday I moved further north searching for perch with not much action so we decided just to go after the trout that were all over and hooked into my biggest laker to date at 42 inches. Overall a great day, tough for perch, but trout fishing was awesome. We caught around 40 trout between two of us with about 3/4 being rainbows. I wanted to thank everyone for the tips, i'll definitely be back again.

Did you catch that laker about 12:30? If so, I saw it from my car as we packed up! And if not, then two people landed giant lakers yesterday! Awesome job!

Even better then, means there are more of them out there! Having never caught a lake trout of any size, I can only imagine what catching a 42" would be like! Any pics?
