I was there yesterday and I woul say its a no go for a boat. Tubes would be fine. There are still large areas of ice. I was told by Joe at the state park that all tagged fish turned in would be in the running for the big prizes. I caught a small prize tag and he called me yesterday and informed me that not many of the big prize tags had been caught, so that's why any tag would be good.

Darn it! I was hoping to get my boat out this weekend to somewhere other than Willard. Thanks for the reports guys! Fred.

As an update to your post. Rockport is 100% open water now. There is a small area down by the water overflow at the dam that has a small amount of ice, but that will melt before the end of today.
It's going to be a cold couple of days, but I don't see it freezing up again by this weekend.

If you do, I'll see you out there! I just went and got a float tube (the rigid frame kind) and am itching to try it out.

Holy windy batman!! This storm pushing in made it nearly impossible to float tube boat without an electric motor. So I am going to get an electric motor. Trying to fight that with paddles was a joke.
I probably missed you up there due to the wind. Hopefully you had better luck than me.

I was up there yesterday just before the storm arrived. If its any consolation, I don't think that you missed much. My buddy and I got about 5 rainbows each, but all but one were 10" dinks. One went about 17". We were trolling around raps, and cranks of various colors. Maybe you'll have better luck ;0) Fred.
